Blessings, Big and Small #8-22

This is an installment in the Blessing, Big and Small series.

Over the past couple weeks, God has blessed me beyond measure yet again! Here is how:

8. Mister being able to participate in half of Bethel Baptist Church’s basketball season.

9. My parents treating us to the last after-basketball Dairy Queen.

10. A new Vera Bradley hipster purse with matching wallet.

11. An off-the-hook birthday!

12. Celebrating a RISEN Saviour!

13. Dinner with family I have not seen in a while. There were lots of laughs as always.

14. Lots of giggles of Noel in her Easter dress. Mister cannot believe I bought a dress for Noel for Easter. He was mortified! Ha!

1-185

15. 79 cent movies at Drug Mart for our first Monday movie night after basketball season.

16. Impromptu date night at a Cavs game.

17. Mister having a day off before a drill weekend.

18. Having a drill weekend that went by fast. That very rarely happens!

19. Awesome weather! I worked on a project for Noel so she can use our full yard without me being outside.

20. Noel kind of learning that it is OK to be outside without me. She freaks out less and less each time.

21. A ginormous yard. Mister and I have never had a yard this big. Living in the country is great 🙂

22. Unexpected last minute local tax refund.

I love counting blessings! God is good all the time!

How has God blessed you in the past few weeks?

A Perfect Birthday Celebration

I am finally getting around to blogging about my birthday because it has taken me all week to recover physically. After a very busy March, I am ready to slow down but cannot for another couple weeks. Anyways…back to my birthday; I promise this will be my last post about my 21st birthday! Ha!

We woke bright and early last Saturday morning for a fun-filled day, and I was ecstatic! I was finally 21! We got dressed and ready to go quickly. Mister even picked out my clothes for me!

After dropping Noel off at my parents’ house, we headed to McDonalds for breakfast, Half Price Books and Plato’s Closet for some birthday shopping, and the mall for a movie. Before the movie we walked around the mall for a short few minutes and picked up Mister a pair of cargo shorts (because he does not have enough already *sarcasm*) then headed back for The Host. (BTW–The Host was really good! I enjoyed it a lot!!!)

After the movie, we jetted on back to my parents’ house for the MAJOR surprise. And when I say MAJOR, I mean MAAAAAJOR!!! They even blindfolded me!

On our way to the major surprise. This is what happens when Mister has the camera...Here ya go, Handsome, I put a goofy picture on the blog just for YOU! :)

Can anyone guess what the surprise was??? Hint: I am a total foodie.

OK, OK–enough with the guessing.

They took me to Dante! Remember my mom’s friend that is the chef? Well, it is his restaurant!

The chef’s table was reserved for us. And for those of you who do not know what is so special about the chef’s table: it is in the kitchen!

We were able to watch the staff in action and talk with Dante all night. The food was fabulous!!! We ordered the 5-course chef’s tasting menu. Did I mention how fabulous the food was?! Oh, wait–I think I did. Well, it is worth repeating several times!

I hardly paid any attention to the rest of the table all night (oops!) because I was so intrigued by the work in the kitchen. But that is also not surprising since it was totally my thing!

We were at Dante for 3 1/2 hours, and it an awesome 3 1/2 hours!!! My family really knows how to plan surprises for me.

After the most epic surprise, we headed back to my parents’ house for presents. Then to my in-laws for a small birthday get together and home for the night.

This past week, I set out all my birthday presents on our couch and was amazed at how much was given to me! Spoiled? Very possible. Blessed? Beyond measure!

All my birthday presents!

All my birthday presents!

It was the GREATEST birthday I have ever had! Perfect in so many ways!!! The whole day was jam-packed with stuff I love but, more importantly, people I love!

Thanks, everyone, for a great birthday! It will go down in history 🙂

P.S. Our first winner of the giveaway did not respond, so I have picked a new winner.

Blessings, Big and Small #2-7

This is an installment in the Blessings, Big and Small series.

I am far behind on my blessings. Sorry about that! I will probably start posting my blessings weekly or bi-weekly. This one is going back about two weeks. I have them in the order as they happened.

~The opportunity to spend the night at my parents’ house when Mister is at drill. You can read about my weekend here and here.

~A husband that will stay home from work to take care of me due to the lack of meds. He walked me to wherever I needed to go, cooked all the meals, and kept me somewhat sane while I was meds-less.

~A husband that will fight with Express Scripts, Tricare, and CVS to get me the proper meds since some things were messed up along the way. He was victorious!

~Feeling well enough to go to the gun show with my Love. It was so nice to do something he enjoys!

~Dinner out with family for my mom’s birthday. We had hibachi, and it was delicious!!!!! Plus, I was able to see some family I do not get to see much.

~A spiritual leader/friend in our church that calls to check on us and see how we are doing when we miss services. We have never really had a church home like that.

~My parents’ treating us to Dairy Queen after Mister’s basketball game.

~Having our own washer and dryer. I am three weeks behind on laundry but am almost caught up. We did not have our own when we were first married. We washed clothes at my parents’ house. But thanks to some awesome people, we have our own, and I am loving it!

I think that is all for now!

What blessings has God brought your way?

Happy Birthday, Mommy!!!

Today is a great day because it is my mommy’s birthday!!! She gave me life and loved and nurtured me all those years. So…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM!

“Your Special Day”
by K

Today is your special day
If I can have my say,
I wish good health for your special day.

You’re exceptional in every way;
And my great mom, you’ll always stay.

And since I am not very good at poems, I will add one I did not write.

Mom, your birthday means so much to me;
To have you in my life another year,

The time I spent enfolded in your love,
Each day, each moment with you is so dear.

I cherish the very special bond we have.
You lift my spirit in so many ways.

I celebrate your life; I honor you,
And send to you my love and care and praise.

The Winter Beauty of Lake Erie

This past weekend, I stayed the night at my parents’ house one of the two nights my husband was away at drill. On Saturday, my parents’ convinced me to hang out with them the whole day because they had a surprise for me. We drove to downtown Cleveland and went to the lake before the surprise. I was able to capture some really gorgeous pictures of frozen Lake Erie, Downtown Cleveland, and Whiskey Island.

I am in no way a professional photographer and even have a hard time taking a descent picture most of the time, but these are some shots that I think look stunning. They are all unedited except for the watermark. Enjoy!

Blessings, Big and Small #1

This is in installment in the Blessings, Big and Small series

This past weekend was “cuddle weekend” as we like to call it. Basically, all we do is cuddle and watch movies…all day!!!

We love these weekends and look forward to them so much!

Saturday, we bought Deluxe donuts (only the BEST donuts in the world…I’m addicted!) and rented four movies.  We, also, munched on a big pot of chili all day.

Sunday, we went to morning church, talked with friends, picked up a FREE pizza, and watched NCIS (one of our favorite TV shows that we watch all the time).

This cuddle weekend was a blessing because March is going to be super busy and we had some time to just focus on us. Now, we are ready to tackle March together.

What blessings had God brought your way this past weekend?

Blessings, Big and Small, Introduction

Last night as I was tossing and turning, the chorus of a hymn from long ago popped into my head and wouldn’t leave.

Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
Count your many blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.

I was inspired to start a series for my blog. I will be counting my blessings, big and small. I want to see what God is doing. Join me on my journey of counting blessings.

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Our Valentine’s Day Celebrations 2013

We had a fantastic Valentine’s Day!!! I decorated the house with lots (I forgot to count, but it was close to last year’s 150) of candles. We dressed up in our fanciest. The menu was salad, steak with baked potatoes and onion, and chocolate cake with hot chocolate served on our fabulous heart-shaped plates and bowls! I even made Mister a heart-shaped homemade marshmallow! It was delicious!!!

Two days later, we had our Valentine’s date day out. We had Deluxe for breakfast. They have the BEST donuts! I wish I could eat there every day!!! After Deluxe, we dropped off Noel at my parents’ so they could puppysit.

We arrived at the mall super early to see Safe Haven. We were so early that the ticket booth wasn’t even open yet, so we walked around the mall and I got an early birthday present–Hunter Hayes’ CD! I have listened to the CD non-stop since then. I love every single song on this CD which is a rarity for me since I’m very picky.

Finally the theater was open. Safe Haven was very good–different from the book but still good! After the movie we walked around the mall a little bit then went gun, book, and clothes shopping. I bought 3 books from Half Price Books and a new super cheap outfit from Plato’s!

We went to Olive Garden for dinner using our gift card from the banquet. Dinner was amazing! We ate so many breadsticks, chicken flatbread, and salad that we didn’t even touch our main course. That makes dinner for another day!

Overall, we had a great Valentine’s! We had so much fun with each other and are very thankful he was home this year!

What’d you do for Valentine’s Day?

You Are Loved Banquet 2013

The night I’ve been looking forward to for weeks finally came! My parents’ came over to puppy-sit, and my mom helped me get ready!

We drove to Hartville Kitchen, and when we arrived, Forever Captured Photography was taking everyone’s picture in  front of the beautiful staircase. I’ll be sure to share when I have it.

We made our way back to the banquet room, and it was decorated in a “love birds” theme.
